Instructions

  1. In order to create a new assessment task, you will need to progress through the ‘Teaching Workspace’, select the relevant class and enter the ‘Programme’ and select ‘Overview of Assessments’.

2. To create a new assessment task, you will need to click the + button which appears at the top of the middle menu (see the above image)

3. A new menu will appear in the workspace on the right. This is where you will input all information relating to the task (see the image below).

4. Insert a title for the task

5. Select the ‘Group’ which the task is to be included a part of (Eg. Formal Assessments, Term 1 - Informal Tasks).

6. Select if the task is going to be ‘Marks’ based or ‘Grades’ based. This will correspond with the information provided to students in the task outline.

NOTE - If you select ‘Marks’ based there will be an additional field to insert information when setting up the Assessable Criteria. If you select ‘Grades’ this field will disappear.

Assessable Criteria

Assessable criteria are the areas in which you will be grading students work. For example, if I were assessing my students as part of a Volleyball unit, I could set my assessable criteria for ‘Digging’, ‘Setting/Spiking’, ‘General Gameplay’ and ‘Understanding of the Rules’. This means I would be providing students with a mark or a grade in each of these areas

1. Insert a name/label for the criteria (what you are assessing)

2. If operating in ‘Marks’ mode, insert a number that equates to the maximum mark a student can receive for this criteria. (This will be appear if you are using ‘Grades’ mode)

3. Add a description which provides additional information or contextualises what students are doing as part of the task

4. Click the + button to add more criteria. Repeat steps 1-3 for each criterion you add.

Availability and Dates

This section features a progress bar and a date menu. Both need to be used for tasks to be released to students.

The 5 components of the progress bar are outlined below.

  • Assessment Hidden - No details of the task have been shared with students and parents. You can add or remove information about the task at any point as the task is in a draft format.

  • Date and title released - At this stage students will be notified that they have an assessment task upcoming but will only receive limited information about the task

  • All details released - Students receive all information about the task you have set for them

  • Teacher feedback released - After students have submitted their task and it has been marked, you can insert feedback on the task with Seqta which is released to students

  • Marks released - Students are notified of the mark or grade they have received for a task

In order to use this component of Assessment tasks correctly please use the following procedure:

1.Have your task set to ‘Assessment Hidden’ as you input assessable criteria, resources and/or an assessment overview

2. Decide upon the date you wish for students to receive the first notification of the task (Date and title released). Set the date menu to this date

Please note - If you move onto the next step, setting the date for all details to be released, before the date you entered for ‘Date and title released’, you will skip the previous 2 steps. Students will not receive notification of the date and title, rather they will receive full details of the task on the date you have allocated.

  1. Decide upon the date you wish students to receive all of the details of the task. Set the date menu to this date

  1. Move the progress bar to ‘All details released’

  1. Insert the due date of the task in the date menu

  1. Move the progress bar to ‘Teacher Feedback released’ (This is so that the date that appears in a students assessment list is the same as the due date)

Resources and Assessment Overview

The Resources portion of an assessment task is the location to upload any related documents or files that are either a part of the task or provide additional information about the task (Eg - School-Based Assessment Task document). Click on the ‘Add files’ to load a menu through which you select the files you wish to make accessible for students.

The Assessment Overview component is where you can write or insert text which provides students with information about their task. Any text written here will be displayed on Seqta Learn for students.
